our growers

Eating local is kind of our jam. Working with producers in our home region is one of the driving forces behind Staff Meal. We use farmers’ seconds, and re-purpose stems and leaves from our favourite fruits and vegetables, because they’re too special to be wasted. Farmers not only feed cities; farmers feed souls.

Bartel Organics, run by Rose and Ken Bartel, is a 3.3 acre farm in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. Here you can find an astonishing variety of fruits and vegetables, surrounded by beautiful flower gardens, and of course, it’s all grown free of herbicides and pesticides. What started as a hobby for Rose became a passion for her and her husband, and has now grown into a thriving local business. During the summer/fall, you can find them at the Farmers’ Market at the Village in Niagara-on-the-Lake and you can participate in their Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) box program.
